These guys are awesome, super friendly and made me a personalised bat for my Christmas present, it is sooooo nice I absolutely love it.
Dan hand made it the day I drove up from Devon.
It’s perfectly weighted for my size and strength and I used it for County winter training last week for the first time.
It felt amazing and looks the business.
Can’t wait to smash some bowlers around with it in 2025.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT BAT
Choosing the right cricket bat is imperative,
so what do you need to consider?
–
HANDLE SHAPE
Our master bat maker can shape the handle to your exact requirements. There are three shapes as detailed below:
↓
HANDLE SHAPE
ROUND HANDLE
Allows the bottom hand to come into play more easily for aerial shots. It is for players who are wristy, like using the bottom hand for control and prefer to feel the bottom hand on the handle.
WHICH BATS?
Fitted as standard on:
VORTEX
HANDLE SHAPE
OVAL HANDLE
An oval handle supports control for the top hand. This is turn takes pressure off the bottom hand and helps batters play in the 'V'. It can provide a more direct feel through the shot, so the handle twists less on impact.
WHICH BATS?
Available on request.
BAT FACE
BLOATED / ROUND
The bloated face is seen to offer a better rebound off the middle of the bat. We offer this option on all our cricket bats.
WHICH BATS?
As standard on all our bats.
In our experience we believe this to be better performing.
BAT FACE
FLAT FACE
It takes a touch longer for the bat to reach its optimum performance.
WHICH BATS?
Available on special request only.
ADAM TESTING!??
THE MIDDLE (AKA THE SWEET SPOT)
The sweet spot or the middle of the bat is the part of the bat where you are looking to hit the ball for maximum power. Hitting the ball at the sweet spot ensures that you achieve the largest amount of power. The location of the middle of the cricket bat is dictated by the profile through the back of the blade.
↓
BAT PROFILE (SIDE / BACK)
Spine to toe
This bat is created to ensure a lightweight pickup, with slight concaving to help balance the weight. The sweet spot is positioned mid to high. Ideal for a touch shot player who plays of the back foot.
WHICH BAT?
VORTEX
BAT PROFILE (SIDE / BACK)
SPINE TO TOE (CONCAVE)
Concaving through the back of the blade, can reduce the weight without compromising on performance. The shape allows for a featherlight pickup. Bats with a concave back profile are those that have had wood scooped out from either side of the bat's spine.
WHICH BAT?
FINBACK
BAT PROFILE (SIDE / BACK)
Duck Bill
Wood is taken from the toe, which results in it being duck bill shape. This shifts the balance higher up the bat to enhance the pick-up.
WHICH BATS?
Available on request.
BAT LENGTH
Depends on the height of the player.
For help, please use our SIZE GUIDE.
Short Blade | 21 7/8 Inches
Standard Blade | 22 inches
Long Blade | 22 7/8 inches
WHICH BATS?
Short baldes - do you mean Vortex? or Academy/Juniors?
Standard and Long blades are available in all our bats.
TOE SHAPE
SQUARE TOE
Gives the illusion of a wider bat as the full width extends down to the toe.
WHICH BATS?
Standard on:
VORTEX
Can be requested on other models.
By hand making our bats we are able to alter the profile, the sweet spot, edges, and scalloping at the back of the blade. We can handcraft a bat to your exact specifications or copy your favourite cricket bat. For more information see our replica service (link)
“There are not many bat makers left in the UK. It is a real specialist job where you have to understand the English cricket pitches as well as the English market and what customers want from a cricket bat. What makes Chase great is its ability to explain to our customers why we make the bats the way we do, and they genuinely appreciate that.”
